Evangenitals in Tampa, Florida TONIGHT!

I love this poster that the local bands we're playing with made. It's awesome!

Hopefully some of my old friends and family will make it out to the show tonight. It would be great to see everyone.

After the show, we're off to Satellite Beach High School, driving through the night, for a 9am presentation for The 1 Second Film. Creator/director of The 1 Second Film Nirvan Mullick actually went to high school there, so it should be cool for him to visit his old alma mater and share his story with the kids.

After that we've got a show in the park in Daytona, stopping by the Veterans nursing home for an acoustic set in the morning, then off to Savannah for our gig at the Guitar Bar. Exciting stuff all around!

Bon Voyage, Evangenitals!

THIS IS IT! We are nearing the big day when the Evangenitals and The 1
Second Film crew departs for a full month on the Road to Oprah.

THIS SATURDAY NIGHT at Molly Malones we will be playing our last show
in Los Angeles before our departure. It's the last chance to grab an
advanced copy our new album "Everlovin" and give us hugs, kisses, and
well-wishes to carry with us on the long, long 10,000 mile drive
across the US and Canada.

It would be great to see as many friendly faces as possible before
our departure (and to be perfectly honest... we could really use the
money!!)

The show is only $6. We play at 11pm, and we have a real special
guest playing with us. Come-n-get-it!

The full lineup for the evening is:
9:00 Randy Sacks
10:00 Taylor Greenwood
11:00 The Evangenitals

Your presence would mean the world to us.

Saturday September 29th
11pm
Molly Malones
575 S Fairfax Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90036

And if you ain't in LA, we hope to see you on the ROAD TO OPRAH!!!

p.s.
And if you can't make it, know that I love getting any response at
all to these notes just to know that they are reaching out and
touching you... hopefully in a way that you like. :-)

The Tipping Point - A Call To Evangenital Action

Can you feel it?

The events of the next few weeks could determine the very course of
the life and career of The Evangenitals and those that love them. If
we play our proverbial cards right, we may find ourselves, in this
moment, teetering on the edge of the Tipping Point -- about to plunge
into the cool pool of the Next Big Thing.

It all, pretty much, depends on you. No pressure. ;-)

Here's the deal: In the coming weeks, we will be sending out some
"Calls to Action" -- simple things that you can do to help us spread
the good word about The Evangenitals and our new soon-to-be-released
album "Everlovin" -- that when done collectively could make a radical
impact on our place in the music world. Simple as that. It doesn't
matter if you live in Los Angeles or England, there are actions that
anyone, anywhere can take to help us make our dream a reality.

Here's 4 things to whet your whistle:

1. Send this show flier to anyone who might care:
http://www.evangenitals.com/images/hugeindie103flier.jpg

We're trying to spread the word to the whole wide world, even if they
can't make it to the show.

2. Request the Evangenitals on Indie 103.1:
http://www.indie1031.fm/requests/request.php

Indie 103.1 is a sponsor of the Universal CityWalk event, and it
would be cool to get some airplay before the big gig... or at least
let them know that we've got some friends and fans out there so when
we hand them the new album they will be all hot and bothered to spin
it. Barrage them with requests! No mercy!

3. Blog, bulletin, brag about The Evangenitals. Please tell your
friends, your family, your acquaintances and distant relatives about
The Evangenitals. If you have a website, please link to us. Add us
to your favorites on your online profiles and/or put us in your
Myspace "Top 8". Don't be ashamed to admit our hot, passionate love
affair to all who will listen. Spread the news!

4. Come to the Show!

http://www.evangenitals.com/calendar.html

On Saturday September 1st at 8pm we will be playing a FREE show for
what could be our biggest audience yet. It's Labor Day weekend at
Universal Citywalk and although you may think that we don't need the
extra bodies in the crowd, it would be really, really nice to have
some friendly faces, love, support, and folks that love the music to
dance, sing, and cheer us on. Heck, you can even take the Metro and
not pay for parking. :-)

Those 4 actions could start a snowball rolling that will take us all
the way to the big time! Let's do it.

More action coming your way soon....

Everlovin'

May the luck of the Irish enfold you (this Saturday night)

Top of the morning to you!

The last time we played Molly Malone’s, a bunch of you turned out to see a legendary set on amazing stage with great sound and successfully helped us to win our spot as “Lords of Hollywood” for a day.  JT the booker was so pleased he has invited us back for another dose of Evangenital joy, this Saturday night!

Now, here’s the catch: we want to out-do the last appearance.  So I’ve got a proposition for you: if we draw 50+ people to Molly Malone’s to see the Evangenitals practice their A-game for the upcoming Universal City gig and Road to Oprah tour I hereby declare that I, Juli Crockett, will have a star in the HEAVENS ABOVE named EVANGENITALS in your honor.  Our own STAR, people!  That will help when the earth shakes us off its back like a bad case of fleas.  We can all go to our STAR!

Mark my words!  And mark the time to our tunes with snapping fingers, bobbing heads, and dancing feet at our triumphant return to Molly Malones THIS SATURDAY NIGHT:

This Saturday, August 11th, at 11pm
Evangenitals @ Molly Malones
575 South Fairfax Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90036
$6

Full line up:
8:00 David Courtney, 9:00 Doschus, 10:00 Bruce Beacom
And the ones that truly love you: The Evangenitals (11PM)

And heck, here’s an Irish Blessing for the road, to guide your way to the Evangenitals at Molly Malones:

Walls for the wind,
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks beside the fire -
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire!

If you live far away and/or have some REALLY GOOD REASON why you won’t help us get a STAR for us all to immigrate to (should the need/desire arrive) you can help us in another way…

By donating $1 or more to The 1 Second Film (http://www.the1secondfilm.com) you will be helping to finance our Road to Oprah tour, which commences on September 19th.  We need all kinds of help, and we very well may be coming to a town near you, so please visit the Road to Oprah website and check out the tour route and other fun ways you can participate: http://www.roadtooprah.com

May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light!

The Hero's Journey

1. A call to adventure, which the hero has to accept or decline
2. A road of trials, regarding which the hero succeeds or fails
3. Achieving the goal or "boon," which often results in important self-knowledge
4. A return to the ordinary world, again as to which the hero can succeed or fail
5. Application of the boon, in which what the hero has gained can be used to improve the world

Let's do this!

Celebrities Join Thousands to Produce Biggest Shortest Film Ever

LOS ANGELES, CA – Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, Pierce Brosnan, Christina Ricci, and Stephen Colbert are just a few of the dozens of celebrities that have joined over 7,500 people from 45 countries to produce a 70mm film that will last only one second.

The innovative non-profit collaboration, aptly titled “The 1 Second Film,” creatively utilizes the internet to enable anyone in the world to become a film producer along with major stars, simply by donating $1 or more via the film’s website: www.the1secondfilm.com

“A lot can happen in one-second,” says Nirvan Mullick, an award-winning director turned social-entrepreneur, who started the film 7 years ago while a student at California Institute of the Arts. A single second of animation consists of 24 frames of film. In this case, each frame is a giant collaborative mural painted by hundreds of people.

Nirvan began fundraising after graduating, setting out to bring the world together for one second. With no budget and a simple Xeroxed flier he began pitching the film to anyone he met. His first celebrity pitch was to George Clooney, whom he ran into in a Burbank parking lot. “I was pretty nervous,” Nirvan admits, “Clooney passed, but later I got a dollar from a lady at the grocery store.”

After that initial encounter, Nirvan continued to improve his marketing materials and his 1 Second pitch. Hundreds more donated and soon even randomly encountered celebrities started chipping in. Christina Ricci, met on a sidewalk, donated $5.50, Spike Jonze became a $12 producer at a movie theater, and Tom Arnold gave $100 outside of the Hollywood Guitar Center.

Nirvan made a website listing the celebrity and non-celebrity producers in order of amount donated. Word spread virally, and thousands around the world began donating online. Dozens of Christina Ricci fans have since given $5.51 to be listed above the star, while comedians Tom Green ($220.00) and Andy Dick ($211.11) are engaged in an escalating battle for top billing.

After raising over $160,000 of a $1,000,000 goal, the production recently launched it’s own online social-network, giving its thousands of producers unique profiles. “Imagine if everyone on MySpace was making a movie together,” says Nirvan, “that’s the goal.  Micro-collaboration.”

“I love what these guys are doing, and the way they are doing it,” says Kiefer Sutherland, one of the film’s top Executive Producers, who recently donated $600.23 at a restaurant.

With thousands of producers, from gas-station attendants to the director of Independence Day, the film’s end credits will last an astounding 90-minutes. A star studded “making of” documentary will accompany the feature-length credits, detailing the (often absurd) adventures of bringing the world together for one-second. All profits raised by The 1 Second Film will be donated to charity.

A two second film is already in development (The 2 Second Film). For more information please visit www.the1secondfilm.com or email press@the1secondfilm.com.

Evangenitals to perform live at Cybernet Expo

May 11, 2007, Tampa, FL - Cybernet Expo is pleased to announce that the Evangenitals (http://www.evangenitals.com/ ) have agreed to perform live at this year’s show. The band is sponsored by AEBN (http://www.aebn.net ) and will perform exclusively for Cybernet Expo attendees on Saturday evening, June 9th, at 6:30pm at the Hilton Westshore in Tampa Bay.

With a sound that the band describes as “hillbilly love punk alternative country psychedelic healthy hippie dirty rock revolution,” or as one fan describes as “like the Dixie Chicks being beaten with their own guitars at the playful hands of the Violent Femmes,” the Evangenitals have a loyal following in the Southern California music scene. They have already released the collection “We Are the Evangenitals,” and a second LP is scheduled for release in the summer of 2007.

”The Evangenitals (aka The Love Punks) were once a fictitious band - a fib on a phony website born to amuse its founders and maybe a few friends,” explains the band’s website. “On a whim, Juli Crockett, Lisa Dee, and Brett Lyda - who all worked at the same sex toy company in L.A. (like the Sex Pistols) - brought the ghost to life and debuted a handful of ‘hillbilly truck-stop lullabies’ for Arlo's open mic night at the legendary Mr T's Bowl in Highland Park.”

Juli Crockett, the lead vocalist and principle songwriter for the band, is also the Marketing Director at http://www.Stockroom.com , which sells sex toys and bondage gear through its website and catalog. Cybernet Expo will mark the first time that the band has played for an adult industry audience.

“The Evangenitals have played at wildly diverse venues – at weddings, funerals, churches, outdoor family festivals, political fundraisers, you name it – and every event and venue is different,” says Crockett. “This will be our first adult industry bash, and we’re not quite sure what to expect.”

Stockroom.com, along with AEBN, will be sponsoring the Saturday evening performance, and Stockroom.com will also be participating in Cybernet Expo’s popular “Show n’ Sell” marketing event.

“We love AEBN,” says Crockett. “This will be the second time they have sponsored an event with the Evangenitals and we are thrilled that they are sponsoring the Evangenitals once more.”

Crockett is also a former boxer, and is rumored to be the inspiration for Hilary Swank’s character in the Oscar-winning film Million Dollar Baby. Her boxing career ended early due to injury.

The Evangenitals also feature Lisa Dee, Brett Lyda, Geoff Brandin, and George Bernardo. So what about their sound?

“Many people have reported that no matter how much someone tries to explain the Evangenital experience to them, they are always totally surprised by the way it actually sounds,” explains Crockett. “Very difficult to categories, we comfortably straddle the genres of Folk, Americana, Southern Rock, Alt Country, Indie Pop, and Psychedelic Funk.”

Attendance at the Evangenitals performance is free, but will require a Cybernet Expo attendee badge. Advance registration for Cybernet Expo, along with its reduced registration rates, will end on May 26th. Additionally, hotel rooms for Cybernet Expo are almost sold out, but rooms are still available at the Hilton Westshore for the reasonable rate of $139 per night. Hotel rooms must be booked through the CybernetExpo.com website; anyone attempting to register directly with the Hilton Westshore will be told that the rooms are all sold out.

Cybernet Expo, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, is dedicated exclusively to the adult Internet business. The show offers seminars for online adult business owners, plus parties and networking events, and an opportunity to make new industry contacts. For more information about attending Cybernet Expo, please visit http://www.cybernetexpo.com/

Patrick Swayze

If you are a friend of the Evangenitals on Myspace and you don't actually know me or the Evangenitals in what we skin-bound humans call "real life", you may be wondering why in the hell I periodically send you invites to Evangenitals' shows & events... especially since you never respond, live in a foreign or faraway land, and perhaps have no idea how we became friends in the first place.

(Please note: I always try to use the "search by location" feature of the invites first and foremost, which unfortunately never works... possibly because I have a Mac, possibly because the "search by location" feature on Myspace blows ass chunks, and possibly because no one I know enters their friggin' zip code or correct city.)

Once that option is exhausted, I have a very simple set of guidelines that I follow when deciding (without knowledge of where in the world anyone is) whom to send invites to. So, if you have received an invite from the Evangenitals, it is likely that you fall into one of these categories:

1. You look lonely. You look like you could use a friend, or perhaps just some sunlight. At a minimum, it appears to me that some time away from the computer would do you good.

2. You look awesome. There is something inherently RAD about your profile picture. You look like a giver; like someone who would contribute to a good time. Or, you may just have incredibly large jugs, which is a good feature to have at shows as well. Come on down.

3. You look like Patrick Swayze. If you are using Patrick Swayze as your profile picture, you are invited. Hell, if you're out there sporting anyone from the Outsiders, at any phase of their careers, YOU ARE GETTING INVITED!

4. You are a drunken mess. We are a band, people, and bands often play in bars. Bar bands need insane, sloppy, excessive drinkers to come to their shows and get good and stinking drunk and spend their rent money on booze to keep bar owners happy and booking good 'ol fashioned bar bands. So, if you have a profile picture that features you drunk out of your mind, passed out with and bunch of bottles, doing a beer bong, smoking a bong, vomiting, or holding a giant pint and/or a YARD of ale, you can bet your poisoned liver that YOU ARE INVITED!

5. Your name is Dave or David. I can't quite explain this one, but as a general rule I invite every goddamn "Dave" and "David" to every goddamn thing we do. It works for me.

6. YOU send ME a crapload of invites. You probably send me millions of bulletins as well, and you're always trying to post GIANT comments with your ENTIRE FUCKING TOUR plotted out on MY page, so I figure, a little e-vite from me shouldn't ruffle your feathers too much.

In the end, let it be known that I painstakingly pick and choose every single profile that I select and add, ONE BY ONE, to our evite list and send out our little plea for SOME sort of RESPONSE to the fact that WE EXIST.

If you don't know, now you know.

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise does not allow his image/likeness to be used in video games or for action figures. He is very protective of the commercial use of his likeness/image.

However: a musical composition, audiovisual work, single and original work of art, (if it is a fictional or non-fictional entertainment or a dramatic, literary, or musical work) is exempt from the California Celebrity rights Act (civil code section 3344).

Are you ready for the Evangenitals Ode to Scientology music video?

Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt

For Ptryxxx:

I fuckin' love Macs, but I hate these goddamn commercials.

Buncha FUD-suckers.

In other news, the Office was awesome last night, I have a cold, the Evangenitals may play Florida in June (7-11th), Brettsky and Georgie are bustin' ass trying to clean up/finish up the new album, we just got hooked up with a SnoCap music store on Myspace thanks to CD Baby, and we had to pass up an opportunity to play with Trainwreck because I'm going to be working at the International Lingerie Show in Las Vegas. Blasts!

Can't win 'em all, though we've been pretty lucky so far.

New T-Shirt. New EvangeniTales. New Day.

Last night at the Bordello show our resident videographer, flier artist, and comic illustrator Patrick Ian Moore (aka PtryXXX) laid before the eyes of the world the newest incarnation of the Evangenitals band T-Shirt featuring the Evangenitals in.... The EvangeniTales!

And just when we thought things couldn't get any cooler, he whipped out a one-sheet teaser comic from the EvangeniTales called "Space Bass: The Rise of Jeff Jones" featuring our beloved old soon-to-be-hitched ping pong master himself, Jeff Jones.

Passersby did note that the Rise of Jeff Jones teaser did bear an uncanny resemblance to some Silver Surfer posters that have been popping up all over town.

Ptryxxx declined to comment on the connection, and instead laugh manically and ordered another Tonic Water with a dash of Lime Zest from the delightfully bosomed bartendress.

Have you met Ptryxxx?

Check our the newest flier from The Rev. PtryXXX for the Bordello show this Wednesday night:

I must say, it is a very lucky band that gets to have their own resident flier designer, comic artist, and videographer to herald the exploits and adventures that they encounter on the wild road to super rock land... and that is exactly what the Evangenitals have in the form of one Patrick Ian Moore, hailing from Tulsa, Okahoma.

Also known as The Reverand PtryXXX of the SouperKlawBrazzz and Improv Monstas, Patrick and I go way back to the year 2000, when his best friend David Taylor was the Technical Director for my thesis project at CalArts [or, the whale] and his brother Andrew and I used to run around late at night taking too many diet pills and drinking gallons of Gatorade while broaming Compton listening to Power 106.

Now Dave is the Technical Director of Lincoln Center, Andrew is.. umm... "retired" in Missouri, and Ptryxxx lives in Los Angeles, California, USA and works in the same sex toy company as I do. How times do change!

Some things, however, don't change... such as, Ptryxxx and I were health-minded, hippie ass, vegan, yoga stretching, animal-loving mofos back then, and we've both gotten back to all that now. So there. Some things remain the same.

What's it all mean? Hell if I know. Just come on out to the show!

Check out this supra-swank club!!

Holy Moly! Tony Gower is BACK!

Just look at this friggin' swank-ass club we are playing at on Wednesday March 14th!!

This is The Bordello, and it is owned by Tony Gower, former owner of the Derby in Los Feliz. In other words, this is the *new* supreme swank locale in Los Angeles, and were going to christen the stage with Evangenital sweat on Wednesday March 14th at 10pm!

(click for more pics)

The Bordello is lush, sexy, beautiful... a must-see joint. It's also about to become our new home base in LA... so let's have ourselves a housewarming/welcome home Tony party!

The Evangenitals will be playing with the Sundowners and Vermouth, who both sound like swank ass bands, so check 'em out and come on down.

That's a lot of funk for $5.

*BREAKING NEWS* Evangenital lead singer Miss Julio Crockett was spotted exiting Aardvarks in Hollywood last weekend with a floor length red gown. Witnesses at the scene reported that allegedly she was overheard saying to her "tall male companion" that the dress was for "some show" she is playing in March at "some swank ass joint". More reports coming soon.

So, Brettsky quit the band... but the show must go on!

This Friday night...  We're pulling some old tunes out of the vault,
throwing Chesney on Guitar, and bringing the Salad.  In other words,
you've never seen the Evangenitals like this!

That's right, folks.  It's time for another crazy ho-down at the Old Towne Pub with The Purple Gang and The Evangenitals.

There is a rumor going around that we've kicked Brettsky out of the band, but you shouldn't listen to the rumors... even if we are the ones starting them!

The truth is.... HOLLYWOOD is to blame!

Brettsky's earning his stripes in the wild world of cinema editing, and the Evangenitals are going to have to persevere for one night with out their beloved Coach and Master Noodler, Brett P Lyda.

So, here's the plan. We put in a call to some Evangenital Extended Family(tm) and we've got special treats for frequent fliers this show.

Jason Chesney (whom you may remember played bass for us at the infamous Knitting Factory/Trainwreck show) is stepping up on guitar (which you will also hear him playing on the forthcoming 2nd ALBUM of the Evangenitals!) and Dave "Salad" Salardino of UkeFink is making a special appearance on the mandolin!

We're bringing some 1st album gems out of the closet for review (think Quee Queg, Eva!) and also some other tunes that we rarely play for one reason or another.

And if you've been suffering from the short-set blues... we're planning a minimum of 10 songs, starting at 10pm. 10 at 10 sounds good to me.

And then the Purple Gang is going to play, putting us in a delicious aural sandwich betwixt Marty West and the Lower Companions and the Purple Gang. Good company!

And you can see it all for just $5. Be sure to tell them that you're there to see the Evangenitals... because we actually get the money at the door when we play the Old Towne Pub, and that money will help make album #2 come out a whole lot sooner!

So come on out and support us. We need all the good vibes we can pack
into the Old Towne Pub so we can put on a good 'ol show that'll make
Coach Brettsky proud!
